The AHOU Hall of Fame is designed to recognize members who have consistently been visible leaders in the underwriting profession and have exemplified the Guiding Principles for the Underwriter throughout their careers. The Hall of Fame will honor and publicly record the achievements of our outstanding members, nominated by their peers.  Qualifications for Nominees for the AHOU Hall of Fame:

  • Full or Basic AHOU member
  • Documented contributions to the underwriting profession, including, but not limited to, 10 or more years work history (some of which must have been as an Underwriter in the individual classification of mortality and/or morbidity risk)
  • Participation in AHOU, ALU, OTR , local or regional underwriting association, etc. in a leadership or committee member position
  • Volunteer work for the profession, for example, as an author for publications/articles or as industry speaker
  • Any additional information on a Nominee's career or personal achievements that demonstrates leadership and commitment to the Guiding Principles for the Underwriter may also be considered.

Marty Meyer, FALU, CLU, FLMI, ChFC

Marty has over thirty years of Underwriting experience and is currently a Senior Underwriting Auditor at Lincoln Financial Group. She has served on the executive councils of AHOU, HOLUA and Rocky Mountain Society of Home Office Underwriters.  She has contributed to the Academy of Life Underwriting in various roles over the past twenty years, including as Chairperson from 2005-2008. Marty has also been a contributing author/editor to On the Risk since 1996.

Brian Pray, FALU, FLMI

Brian has over thirty years of Underwriting experience and is currently an Assistant Director of New Business at Northwestern Mutual.  He has served on the executive councils of AHOU, HOLUA and the Wisconsin Association of Life and Health Underwriters.  He was involved with the Academy of Life Underwriting in various roles for fifteen years, including as Chairperson from 2002-2005.

Paula Romano, FALU

Paula has over thirty years of Underwriting experience and is currently Vice President, Underwriting, Claims and Investigations at Prudential Insurance Company. She has served on the AHOU Program Committee, the ACLI Risk Classification Committee, and on the MIB Advisory Council. She has been involved with The Academy of Life Underwriting in many capacities over the years, most recently as a member of the Curriculum Group. She is a former Editor in Chief of On the Risk.
