Marlee Nichols is an actuary and Assistant Director of Risk Selection Analytics at Northwestern Mutual. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017 and achieved her Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries in 2021. Marlee shifted her career away from traditional actuarial work and into predictive modeling and big data after learning about predictive analytics through an actuarial exam. She is now the business lead for a team developing fraud-detection models in accelerated underwriting and is responsible for understanding and quantifying the business ramifications of misrepresentation in the application process.
