Cheryl Johns is a leading industry expert for life insurance processing, life insurance technology implementations and underwriting risk selection for life insurance business. She most recently joined New York life where she holds the position of CVP Underwriting Standards for the Direct Business Unit. Prior to joining NYL she served as the Vice President of New Business Operations and Chief Underwriter for AAA Life Insurance Company from 2005 to 2020. At AAA Life and throughout her career she has had responsibility for new policy administration system implementations, the development of accelerated underwriting programs and many other industry leading initiatives. She started her career as an underwriter with Allstate over 30 years ago and held a variety of positions with the Zurich/Kemper Companies from 1988-2000. In 2000 she relocated her family from Chicago to Central Michigan for a position with Jackson National Life as Vice President Life Services.

Educated at Eastern Illinois University and at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management she holds a Bachelor of Science in Business. She has completed several insurance industry certifications including FLMI, ACS, CLU®, and FALU designations. She also holds her life/health insurance, series 6 and 26 licensing. She has been an active member of Associate of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) serving in a variety of leadership roles including time on the Program Committee, as VP Publications & Secretary, and President from 2015 - 2017. She is currently a coordinator volunteer for the ALU, leading the efforts for their annual forum meeting. Cheryl has a passion for finding ways to simplify the life insurance purchasing process to bring more life insurance into the homes of more people.

She lives in Howell, Michigan with her husband Scott and their yellow lab Oliver.
