Maximize your AHOU Membership and Vote by August 21st!

Did you know that AHOU individual and company members are able to play an active role in the direction of the association by voting on proposed changes to AHOU's Bylaws?

The Executive Council (EC) periodically reviews the AHOU Bylaws and proposes changes. Proposed changes are reviewed by legal counsel and are then sent to the membership for vote. Bylaws changes require a minimum of 10% of the voting members to participate and a majority of those voting to ratify.

The proposed bylaw changes, which are currently out for vote, would create the Assistant Vice President Education role. This addition would bring the Education roles into alignment with the other AHOU committees and would allow for succession planning to meet the needs of the EC and Education Committee. With the creation of an AVP Education position, term adjustments are proposed. The proposed terms for the VP and AVP Education positions are the same as the current Treasurer roles. The proposed changes also include language regarding the role of the EC in filling vacancies on the EC.

This webinar will discuss how profitability is determined in life insurance and impact automation and accelerated underwriting have on mortality/pricing expectations from an actuarial prospective. We will discuss the challenges faced with increasing the face amount of automated processes, how being off by even a few tables affects the overall profitably of products (from a general sense), and how we are accounting for this in automated processes. Finally, we will also be discussing how eliminating requirements, or using new forms of digital data, affects the pricing models of policies. By the end of this webinar, the Underwriter will be more familiar with some of the challenges faced by actuaries with the advancement of automation and accelerated underwriting, and how these challenges, and the solutions developed, impact underwriting.
